I've used Slingplayer versions for other streaming players, and I had to use my smartphone or tablet to initiate streaming from the Slingbox. Does Slingplayer for Fire TV work this way? Do I even need a smartphone or tablet?
No, with Slingplayer for Fire TV you use the physical remote to initiate streaming from your Slingbox 500, Slingbox M1/M2, or Slingbox 350.
Sometimes the video going to the TV via the Amazon Fire TV stops, or doesn't look very good. Why might that be happening?
For the best video quality, make sure that your Amazon Fire TV player has a good Wi-Fi signal available. (For the best possible signal, if possible, use an ethernet cable to connect your network to the Amazon Fire TV’s ethernet port.) Anytime the Wi-Fi signal isn't so good, performance may suffer.
Also, you can bring up the app menu and manually switch the picture quality higher or lower.
