Changing Slingbox name or passwords with SlingPlayer (Windows)

- Choose Setup Assistant from the Settings menu.
The Slingbox Setup Assistant window opens.
- Click Next.

Select your Slingbox (if offered a choice) and enter the administrator password.

If you're not logged into your Sling Account, you must either create one, or log into your existing one.
The Slingbox Settings page appears.

On the left, under Edit Settings, click Setup Your Slingbox.
The Setup Your Slingbox: Set Name and Password window appears
-
Change the Slingbox name, administrator password, and/or optional view-only password.
-
When you are finished, click Apply.
The Setup Assistant closes and makes the changes.
To change your Slingbox name or administrator password (Watch on Slingbox.com)
Note: You can only change the administrator password with Watch on Slingbox.com. You must use standalone SlingPlayer 2.0 for Windows to change the view-only password.
- Launch Watch on Slingbox.com, then connect to your Slingbox.
- Click Options.
- Click Slingbox Setup (on the right side of the Options screen).
- Click Continue to disconnect from your Slingbox.
- Just beneath the name of your Slingbox, click Change Name or Password.
- Change the Slingbox name and/or administrator password.
- Click Next.
- If you're done, click Slingbox Directory to watch your TV, or just close the window.
IMPORTANT: Select unique passwords (both the administrator password, and if used, the view-only password) for your Slingbox. This reduces the chances of someone else using your Slingbox without your permission.
How do I create an effective password?
A good way to create a solid password is to use the first letters of the words in a phrase you like, or the first letters of a song lyric. To make these passwords harder to guess, add some numbers in the middle of them. For example, substitute the number "1" for the letter "I," or the number "3" for the letter "E." Just don't forget that you did this!
Here are a few tips for creating and safeguarding your password:
- Change your passwords periodically.
- Don't share your passwords with others.
- Avoid words in the dictionary, first names, birthdays, pet's names and so on.
- Use a good mix of upper case and lower case letters and numbers.
