Optimizing the video stream automatically with a specific resolution

SlingStream optimizes video as it is sent and received over the Internet. While SlingStream optimization generally provides the best possible video experience for most Slingers in fully-automatic mode, you can also specify a particular screen resolution if you want:

1. Choose SlingPlayer Options from the Settings menu, then click the Encoding tab.
2. Click to select Enable SlingStream optimization with a video resolution of ... then select the video resolution you'd like from the drop-down menus for either Local Access (connections within your home network) or Internet Access (connections outside of your home network). You can change both if you like.

If you'd like to choose a specific video resolution, for both Local Access and Internet Access, your choices are:

• 160 x 120
• 256 x 192
• 320 x 240
• 640 x 240
• 640 x 480
• 1280 x 720
• 1440 x 540
• 1680 x 540
• 1920 x 540

Note: In the initial streaming process, you may notice jittery video as SlingStream optimizes and adjusts the stream for the first time. This is normal. It'll smooth out in a moment. However, any resolution higher (bigger number) than 640 x 480 is considered high-definition (HD) streaming. This requires considerable additional computer power and network bandwidth. If you find video quality is not acceptable, switch to a lower resolution (smaller number).
