Getting started with SlingPlayer
Using your Slingbox to watch your TV anywhere is easy with SlingPlayer software. Here's how.
Start watching
There are lots of ways that you can start watching your TV with SlingPlayer.
Here's four different ways ... take your pick:
| 1. |
Launch the SlingPlayer software on your computer. Depending on how you have SlingPlayer Options set up, SlingPlayer might automatically connect to the last Slingbox that you watched. |
| 2. |
Or you can ... click Play. SlingPlayer connects to the last Slingbox you used. |
| 3. |
Or you can ... choose Connect to [name of last Slingbox you used] from the Connect menu. The keyboard equivalent is Alt-X. The Slingbox connects, and you're all set. |
| 4. |
Or you can ... connect using the Slingbox Directory by choosing Slingbox Directory from the Connect menu. The keyboard equivalent is Alt-S.
- When the Slingbox Directory opens, click to select the icon of the Slingbox that you want.
- Click Connect, or just double-click the icon for that Slingbox.
- If you're asked for a password, type it in the box that appears.
- Make sure to select Log in as Administrator if you're using the Administrator password.

You're ready to go. Enjoy your TV!
If the picture is a little jumpy at first ...
Don't worry. SlingStream is busy optimizing the picture for you. Watch the status in the lower-left corner of the viewing window. If you see Optimizing, SlingStream is configuring the best picture for you. When Optimizing changes to Streaming, the primary optimization is done ... but SlingStream is always at work, fine-tuning the picture to best take advantage of available network conditions.
