Are you having trouble figuring out all those ports on the back of the SlingCatcher?

The SlingCatcher is designed to be connected to your TV and provides many different ways to do that. Below are descriptions of the different video connections and examples of what they look like when all set up.

Before you begin, take a look at the back of your TV. What available ports does it have?

1. If there is an open HDMI port or set of composite video ports, you will probably want to one of those. That provides the best quality video.
   
2. The next best is S-Video. S-Video is the funny-looking cable with the 5 little pins on the connector.
   
3. If your TV isn't wide-screen and doesn't provide an S-Video connection, you can use composite video.

Hooking up your SlingCatcher using an HDMI cable
While most people can't tell the difference between HDMI and component, HDMI is digital and runs both audio and video in one cable. Very handy and minimalist. (Cable sold separately.)

Hooking up your SlingCatcher using Component video
If you don't want to buy a fairly expensive HDMI cable, component video cables (the red, green and blue) perform pretty much as well as HDMI. The most significant difference is that you have to run seperate audio cables to finish the hook up of your SlingCatcher to your TV. (Cable sold separately.)

Hooking up your SlingCatcher using an S-Video cable
If you have a standard definition TV or only standard definition ports open on your TV, you can use S-Video to hook it up to your Slingbox. You will need to run audio cables as well. (Cable sold separately.)

Hooking up your SlingCatcher using composite video
You can also use the supplied composite video cable to connect the SlingCatcher to your TV.

Hooking up your SlingCatcher using an HDMI cable
As stated above, in most situations HDMI can cary both audio and video, minimizing the cables you ahve to have running behind your TV. If you have an older TV, however, audio over HDMI may not work. (Cable sold separately.)

Hooking up your SlingCatcher using an SPIDIF digital audio
To connect DIGITAL AUDIO, you can use SlingCatcher’s digital audio output to connect to an external audio receiver that can receive digital audio input. Digital audio connections are usually orange. Just one cable handles right and left channel audio (and front and back and center if content is surround sound enabled). (Cable sold separately.)

Hooking up your SlingCatcher using analog audio
You can also use the supplied analog right and left audio cable to connect the SlingCatcher to your TV.
