Cable and Connector Glossary
Confused by all of the ports and cables on the back of your TV, Slingbox, or SlingCatcher? Here's an illustrated glossary.
Watching HD-only content with your Slingbox SOLO, PRO, or PRO-HD
You can watch your HD-only content anywhere with a Slingbox SOLO, or a Slingbox PRO with the Sling Media HD Connect product. Just be aware that SOLO and PRO models stream via a high-quality standard-definition stream, not in a high-definition stream. The Slingbox PRO-HD can stream in high-definition on your home network and in high-quality over the Internet.
What's a network?
Let's talk about networks. You might be asking yourself, "How do I know if I have a network in my home?" Good question!
What's a router?
It's a question you shouldn't feel embarrassed to ask! Many folks with home networks aren't sure, either.
What does "Set Up Complete" mean?
The front page of the Slingbox Support site lists useful data about your Slingbox. (Log in to your Sling Account if you don't see it.) The Set Up Complete item indicates whether or not you have successfully completed setting up your Slingbox.
What is a port?
A port is a way that your router can direct Internet traffic to a particular device within your home network.
